Since Yellow Eyes’s and the Forbidden Volcano’s awakening many things in Perfection had changed. Almost daily the village was celebrating someone’s newly developed and unique qualities. Even those that hadn’t physically changed were discovering that little something that made them unique and special. Unfortunately, a small group of Perfecto boys had trouble finding their unique talent and accepting those that had.
After once again loosing the daily games to a group of changed Perfectos, Bruno’s and his group of friends’ jealousy reached the melting point. They stormed out of the village and vowed to find someone who understood them - Yellow Eyes. Soon they found who they were looking for or should I say he found them. Upon meeting him they became even more unsure and nervous about deciding to join him, but fear of this monstrous man kept them there.
Yellow Eyes explained how he would take his rightful place as ruler of the land and to these ten Perfectos’ surprise they were part of his plan. He made them train for weeks on end and then one night he gathered the ten around a large stone table and set bubbling goblets in front of each of them. A look of concern came across several of the Perfectos’ faces as they stared at the goblets, which were fizzing, popping, and turning an array of colors. It was so silent they could hear one another gulp with fear. Then Yellow Eye’s broke the eerie silence with his booming voice. “Go ahead you have nothing to fear the effects of this drink are only temporary, so DRINK and then off to bed. In the morning you will all be invincible.”
Petrified they did as he commanded and in the morning they awoke to find themselves transformed into monstrous creatures or as Yellow Eyes called them Prolls (half Perfecto, half Troll). Yellow Eyes quickly helped them get over their shock by having them try out their new found strengths: they easily smashed stone chairs, lifted large boulders, and leaped effortlessly across the room. They mistakenly believed they had found their special talents. Yellow Eyes then barked his orders and they all set out for the village.
Now Silent and Sky had been rolling down Sunset Hill when Silent froze in mid roll, for his large ears had perked right up. What he and Sky discovered was dreadful; Yellow Eyes and ten creatures were headed for the village. Quickly they raced to warn the others and immediately the town began organizing a defense.
Later that evening Yellow Eyes and his Prolls arrived on the outskirts of town and when the last light turned off they moved in, but to their surprise every home they entered was empty. Puzzled by this Yellow Eyes split up his group and that is exactly what we Perfectos wanted. We took on those Prolls two at a time, and how we did it I’ll explain in a fun and short rhyme.
A magnifying lens, Ivory’s teeth, and a glowbug light,
Just add a growl and it creates quite a fright.
Believing a zorilla was after them they squeezed through the door.
Doubled over with laughter Ivory and Lenny fell to the floor.
Stretch flung acorns while Stu sputtered and stuttered,
Those Prolls had no choice but to duck and cover.
What were these “stingers” zooming through the air?
They didn’t know and didn’t care,
They just bee-lined it out of there!
Now Serenity and Joy had fashioned a trap
And Zeke took off into the forest when he heard SNAP!
Bottoms blazing and pulled for a mile
These Prolls’ recovery took awhile.
Fred and Chunk met the next two with such force
That they were knocked dizzy of course.
When finally recovered they decided they had enough,
And that the potion had not made them that tough.
Now for Bruno, Jester, and Yellow Eyes
We had in store a special surprise!
Everyone gathered and took their places
Boy you should have seen the look on their faces.
Mischief and Tiny rang their bells with cymbals
And they wobbled when they walked - no longer nimble.
Mischief and Tiny bungeed down once more
Grabbing the intruders’ britches as they soared.
They pulled them so high they heard them tear
Causing a tremendous pain in the rear.
Letting go they snapped back and onto their heads
The embarrassment and pain had turned their faces beet red!
Then the rest of the Perfectos recreated their acts
And made it very clear to them they were under attack!
They turned left, right, and banged into one another
I believe Yellow Eyes even hollered for his mother.
Eventually we gave them an opening which to skedaddle
We both knew who had won this battle!
And there you have it! You see what Yellow Eyes and his group had failed to realize was cooperation, brains not brawn, and love not hate will always prevail. Now you might ask yourself how do I know all that happened with Bruno and his friends? Well, many of them realized for themselves the lesson I just shared and I’m happy to say deep down inside they cared. With seven back and three to go I welcome the day they will all return home. So as I say goodbye I leave you with this:
When you’re feeling not special, left out, or just plain blue
Don’t take it out on someone else, here’s what to do.
